Vladimir Ivanovich Ponomaryov, born in 1975, MD, professor, academician of Higher Education Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the head of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Neurology and Medical Psychology of Medical Faculty of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

In 2000 graduated from Kharkiv National Medical University with a Specialist’s degree in Medical care. In 2000-2001 took internship course on the speciality «psychiatry» at the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of Kharkiv State Medical University on the basis of Kharkiv Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital №15. V.I. Ponomaryov also has specializations on neurology, narcology, psychotherapy and sexopathology.

In 2005 passed PhD thesis defense on «Tobacco smoking in young people  (clinical and experimental-physiological research)» on the speciality 14.01.17 – «narcology».

In 2011 passed MD thesis defense on «Unsocialised disorder of behavior and addiction to volatile organic compounds of adolescents» on two specialities: 14.01.16 – «psychiatry» and 14.01.17 – «narcology».

V.I.Ponnomaryov is the author of more than 210 published scientific works, 72 manuals  and 4 methodical instructions for students of medical Universities, internship doctors and general practitioners, 19 certificates of authorship and 4 patents of Ukraine for utility model, 4 rational suggestions, 1 innovation. At the moment by his guidance 1 MD and 12 PhD dissertations are being accomplished.

Areas of professional activity: questions of diagnostics, etiopathogenesis, clinical peculiarities, course, prevention and treatment of the patients with comorbid pathology of psychiatric and narcological profile.
